Spring Has Sprung. So Has Springbreak, And It Sprung Up On Me Nicely.

Last Friday I did something I haven't done in a while...

Paid my taxes.

Also, I put on my square toed shoes and stripey shirt and went out. In public and everything.

Had some drinks at Luca's, this really tasty little pizza joint in Paulshof and then around the corner to a fancy-pants club called Movida.

Never been there before, it's not a bad little place to get fershnickered and wonder - if they're this short already - what ladieses skirts are going to look like in five years.

I really can't wait.

But I digress.

A fun thing happened - we were chilling out, maxin', relaxin' and cooling, shooting some shooters and hoping our mom's wouldn't get scared when a couple of dames came by...

Holy crap on a cracker, I haven't seen a party promoted like this before.

It needs to happen more often.

Writing. Or Lack Thereof.

So here’s the thing… for so long, I could just pick up a laptop, or sit at my computer and tap away. Stream of consciousness, random mumblings, funny, not so funny – anything really. Now, not so much. It’s an effort just to get started, and when, on the rare occasion, I do try – nothing. Just the big white bull staring me in the face, daring me to be as good as I once was.

I wonder what it is. Lack of practice? Lack of interest? The fear of what Sam might think if I write from the heart about the world around me or past experiences about things I‘ve done and places I’ve been and the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had with them? I hope not. I’d make for great reading. Maybe it’s fear of me. Maybe I’m too scared to try, because I might not live up to my own expectations. Like in that movie – if you don’t try, then no one can say it isn’t any good. If you don’t produce something, then it doesn’t have to become a real thing, with warts and bumps and bits that aren’t good…

Who knows?

If I’m honest, it might be all, or none, of those things.

Time will tell.

In the meantime, I think I've discovered tweetering...

680 Days Later...

Let's just say we were on a break, and leave it at that, shall we?

The bottom line though, is this:

I'm back, fuckers.

Booyah.

Byeeeeee

Well, it's been a helluva year.

Ups, downs, some sideways bits. But now it's come to that time where it's not about the work, it's not about the internet connection, the writing or the random messaging from imaginary people that live inside my computer...

I'm off to go focus on the important things - family, friends, and most importantly - my beloved - the best, most incredible thing that could ever have happened to me. I'm a very lucky boy.

(Thank you, boo. Just by the way.)

May all of you have an incredibly blessed December and January. Focus on time spent with loved ones; the people important to you, and to whom you are important and loved by. It's a great time to be alive, and a time to live life without anything intruding on a special season.

In the meantime, scroll through the archives, have a read and a chuckle.

God bless, and take care...

The Crayola Dude.

Yeah. I LOL'ed.

For his birthday little Matt asked for a 10-speed bicycle.
His father said, "Son, we'd love to give you one, but the bond on this house is R680 000 and your mother just lost her job. There's no way we can afford it."

The next day the father saw little Matt heading out the front door with a suitcase. So he asked, "Son, where are you going?"

Little Matt told him, "I was walking past your room last night and I heard you tell mum you were pulling out. Then I heard her tell you to wait because she was coming too. And I'll be damned if I'm staying here by myself with a R680 000 bond and no freakin' bike...
